Nancy M. PetersonNancy M. Peterson
Member since 1978
Western history, fiction, freelance

Nancy was a young mother when she first published a short story and a verse in 1968. In the years since she has sold essays, family humor, photo essays, profiles and historical articles to national and local markets. More recently, she has focused on the history of the West, using stories of individuals to bring the era alive for her readers. Her books include People of the Moonshell, People of the Troubled Water, and People of the Old Missury. Learning about the DWPC’s 100-year history so that she could help compile The Women Who Made the Headlines in 1998 was a labor of love -- only partial payment for the club friendships that have so enriched her life.

Her newest book, released in August 2006, is Walking in Two Worlds: Mixed-Blood Indian Women Seeking Their Path. It relates the efforts of 11 remarkable 19th century women to create their own identifies and make their place in a hard new world. Learn more about Nancy at www.nancympeterson.com.
